It is a natural instinct to want to help friends and others in our lives. Sometimes it can be challenging to know how to help them.

How to support others

If you are worried about someone else, it’s important to let them know what you’ve noticed they are acting differently. Listen to what they say without judgement and let them know you will help them get support. Remember, you do not have to offer a solution, sometimes just being there is enough. It helps if you know what options of support are available. You might recommend they go and visit a local GP, or if they’re not comfortable with speaking to someone face-to-face, let them know about online and telephone support services.
